Galileo MomentOur over-arching theme for IYA2009 is to offer all Canadians the possibility of enjoying a ‘Galileo Moment’ sometime during 2009. A Galileo Moment is “an engaging astronomy experience”. More specifically, a Galileo Moment is the participation in, or attendance at, an event that is officially sanctioned as an IYA2009 ACTIVITY To commemorate the International Year of Astronomy, any person in Canada who experiences a Galileo Moment in 2009 can have their name sent into space by the Canadian Space Agency on board NEOSSat in 2010! NEOSSat will be the world's first satellite to hunt for asteroids and space debris. The registration period has unfortunately ended. All names entered have been sent to the Canadian Space Agency.
