How long the tool can last working in a day, its power level and capacity depend on the battery that has been incorporated. Nickle Cadmium (NiCd) Batteries

Batteries made of nickel-cadmium have been around since 1899 but were only commercially available in 1946. They have a cycle life 1,000 plus charges and will discharge itself at a 10% battery level. Although they are considered as durable, they need constant recharging for them not to lose their power permanently.

In addition, you should also make sure that the batteries cool down after charging before even using them. When it comes to current flow, they are at the top rank but they are somewhat heavy and their cadmium content makes them a threat to the environment. Further, they are considered as batteries that have the lowest capacity.

Nickle Metal Hydride (NiMH) Batteries

In order to address the capacity limits of the NiCD battery, more expensive the NiMH batteries have been manufactured in 1989. Likewise, since cadmium has been replaced, these products are less toxic and can be disposed of without problems. However, it has a lower life-cycle capacity which is only around 600 and it will self-discharge between a battery level of 13.9 and 70.6% when used at room temperature. In addition, this type of battery is extremely sensitive to temperature and can be damaged when exposed between 33 degrees Fahrenheit and 103 degrees Fahrenheit.

Lithium-Ion Batteries (Li-Ion)

Li-ion batteries are the most modern types of batteries that have been introduced and sold in 1991. Since they have a low weight, they are commonly used not just in cordless drills but also in lawn mowers and mobile phones. This battery also overpowers the other types since it cannot be destroyed by poor charging practices. However, it only has a life cycle of less than or equal to 500.

These batteries have high capacity ratings and discharge at eight percent in room temperature and higher when the temperature is increased. They are also sensitive to impact and heat and will often feel very hot while they are charging. Such can make them prone to exploding, so care must be taken not to overcharge them.
